From Evolution to Revolution

Welcome to our JSME Fluids Engineering Division (FED) Home Page. This is the welcome message from the chairman of FED 2004. My name is Kozo Fujii, Professor of ISAS/JAXA (Institute of Space and Astronautical Science/Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency).

FED is one of the important key divisions of JSME and has largest number of JSME member registration. We will continue the evolutional effort of the division to help researchers and engineers working in Fluid Engineering. We will also pay attention to public outreach as well. Your continuous support will be very much appreciated.

Last year, we had two important international conferences; ASME/JSME Joint Fluids Engineering Conference and JSME-KSME Fluids Engineering Conference. Both were held in success and now time to prepare the next one. This year, there will be only one big conference, The 6th KSME-JSME Thermal & Fluids Engineering Conference at Jeju City in Korea in March 20-23, 2005.,but, other than that, we concentrate our effort to our two regular domestic conferences; JSME annual meeting in September and FED meeting in November held at Kitakyushu. We look forward to seeing you in these conferences too.

JSME-FED is administered by the executive committee, consisting of members selected according to geographical area and fields of specialization. There are other committees in addition to support the FED activities. Please acknowledge that the activities of FED would not become successful without voluntary contribution of the committee members. Here are the committees.

Technical Committee is one planning of events such as academic meetings and seminars, and activities related to awards, etc. General Affairs Committee is dealing with financial affairs of the division, planning of research groups belonging to the division, various other duties. Publicity Committee is doing WEB site maintenance and administration, newsletter publication, flow "dream contests". Editorial Committee does publications, journal planning. Membership Committee is for membership augmentation and activities related to member services. The names of the heads of the above committees, as well as the names of the executive secretary and working group managers are posted on our WEB site.

We have made efforts to improve the publicity of the FED through the WEB. You will find what is going on through our WEB site. For instance, most of the important activities of each FED committee can be found there. We are publishing the International Journal. We have three series. Series B is on fluids engineering and thermal engineering, and it is published every three months. We have financial support for the publication of good papers. Please check it on our WEB site. We welcome your contribution to the Journal.

Thank you again for visiting of us, Fluids Engineering Division Home Page.
