6th Symposium on Flow Manipulation and Active Control: Theory, Experiments and Implementation

Direction

This symposium is intended to provide a platform to exchange information, report on the latest results and identify research needs concerning issues related to the various aspects of flow manipulation and active control in macro, mini and micro-flows. Special emphasis will be placed on fluid flow and heat and mass transfer fundamentals and applications, innovative complex geometries, sensors and actuators, control strategies and examples of technological realizations. Discussions of work on aspects such as passive and active generation and manipulation of flow structures in single and multiphase flows in macro and micro scales are welcome. Examples of enhancement by means of flow manipulation and control on heat transfer and mixing include the effect of:
- flow instability and transition to turbulence
- chaos and chaotic advection
- micro-fluidics
- flow curvature and/or rotation
- oscillatory flows
- suction and blowing
- vortex generation
- turbulent mixing.
