Message from the Chairman of the JSME Fluids Engineering Division

Welcome to our JSME Fluids Engineering Division (FED) homepage. As chairman of the FED 2009, I welcome you. My name is Satoru Komori, Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Science at Kyoto University.
The FED is one of the key divisions of JSME and has the largest number of JSME member registrations out of twenty divisions. We will continue our efforts to improve the division to help researchers and engineers working in the f luid e ngineering field. We will also pay attention to public outreach . Your continued support is very much appreciated.
Our efforts are concentrated on two regular domestic conferences: the JSME annual meeting, Sep. 13-16 at Iwate University in Morioka; and the FED meeting, Nov. 7-8 at Nagoya Institute of Technology in Nagoya. In 2011, we will have an important international conference, the ASME/KSME/JSME Joint Fluids Engineering Conference in Hamamatsu, Japan.
The JSME-FED is administered by the Executive Committee, consisting of members selected according to geographical area and field of specialization. In addition, t here are other committees to support FED activities. Please remember that the activities of FED would not be successful without the voluntary contributions of the committee members.
The Technical Committee plans events such as academic meetings and seminars, and activities related to awards, etc. The General Affairs Committee deals with the financial affairs of the division, planning of research groups belonging to the division, and various other duties. The Publicity Committee does web site maintenance and administration, newsletter publication, and flow “ dream contests .” The JFST Editorial Committee plans and publishes our own electronic i nternational j ournal, “Journal of Fluid Science and Technology” (JFST) .
