Message from the Chairman of the JSME-FED
Toshiaki Ikohagi, Chairman of the Fluid Engineering Division in 2007, Tohoku University |
Welcome to our JSME Fluids Engineering Division (FED) Home Page. This is the welcome message from the chairman of FED 2007. My name is Toshiaki Ikohagi, Professor of Institute of Fluid Science, Tohoku University .
FED is one of the important key divisions of JSME and has the largest number of JSME member registration. We will continue the improving effort of the division to help researchers and engineers working in Fluid Engineering. We will also pay attention to public outreach as well. Your continuous support will be very much appreciated.
We concentrate our effort to our two regular domestic conferences; JSME annual meeting , Sep. 9-12 at Kansai University in Osaka and FED meeting , Nov. 17-18 at Hiroshima University in Hiroshima . We had an important international conference this year, 5th Joint ASME/JSME Fluids Engeneering Conference , July 30-Aug. 2, in San Diego , California . And we are headed toward the 7th JSME-KSME Thermal & Fluids Engineering Conference, Oct. 13-16, 2008 which will be held in Sapporo , Hokkaido .
JSME-FED is administered by the Executive Committee , consisting of members selected according to geographical area and fields of specialization. There are other committees in addition to support the FED activities. Please acknowledge that the activities of FED would not become successful without voluntary contribution of the committee members. Here are the committees.
Technical Committee is one planning of events such as academic meetings and seminars, and activities related to awards, etc. General Affairs Committee is dealing with financial affairs of the division, planning of research groups belonging to the division and various other duties. Publicity Committee is doing WEB site maintenance and administration, newsletter publication, and flow "dream contests". Editorial and Planning Committee does publications and journal planning. Membership Committee is for membership augmentation and activities related to member services. JFST Editorial Committee plans and publishes our own electronic International Journal, “Journal of Fluid Science and Technology (JFST)”. JFST is moving ahead well, but we continue to improve the quality of each paper by improving the review system and reducing the time one takes to be published. We welcome your contribution to the Journal. The names of the heads of the above committees, as well as the names of the executive secretary and working group managers are posted on our WEB site.
We have made efforts to improve the publicity of the FED through the WEB. You will find what is going on through our WEB site. For instance, most of the important activities of each FED committee can be found there.
Thank you again for visiting of us, Fluids Engineering Division Home Page .
