Yacht Car 1 (Tailwind)
Let's take a look!
What kind of experiment is this?
Experimental procedure and explanation:
- Here we study the relationship between wind direction and the force acting on a sail that has been installed on a car.
- Under a tailwind, you should make the sail perpendicular to the wind, with the sail tip pointing backward to the windward direction.
- The sail will catch the wind and the car will move leeward. In this case, the force acting on the sail is in the leeward direction; this force is air resistance. A force acting in the direction of a flow stream is called drag.
