Preface

Mechanical Engineering Congress, 2014 Japan (MECJ-14) was held from September 7th to 10th, 2014 in the Tokyo Senju Campus of Tokyo Denki University. The venue is located within 1-minute-walk from station. All the sessions related to fluid mechanics and fluids engineering were arranged to be held on the same floor for the participants’ convenience. There were two keynote lectures, five workshops, and more than 10 organized and general sessions related to fluid mechanics and fluid engineering.

In the current and next issues of the newsletter, a wide variety of articles related to fluid mechanics and fluids engineering is reported by the speakers of the keynote lectures and the workshops: fluid phenomena from nano to global scale, latest measuring technique, integration with numerical analysis, and so on. These articles also include materials that were not provided at the congress. We hope that these articles are informative for engineers and researchers in our field and stimulate the activities of the fluids engineering division in the future.

Finally, we would like to thank all the authors for their contributions.

Plenary lecture by Prof. Satoru Komori (Kyoto University)

Toshiyuki Sanada, Hiroshi Yokoyama, Ikuya Kinefuchi
