Preface

―  Theme : "The Conference of Fluid Engineering Division"  ―

97th JSME Fluids Engineering Conference was held from 7 to 8, Nov., 2019 at Toyohashi city of Aichi Prefecture. The conference had three keynotes, one special lecture, 11 organized sessions and industrial sessions. All lectures were the same poster presentation format as last year, and active discussions were carried out in all sessions. At the first day of the conference, the 17th dream of flow contest was held, and 8 ingenious works were successfully presented and exhibited under the theme of “Let's express the feeling of the flow”.

This issue of the newsletter is “The Conference of Fluid Engineering Division”. The speakers of the keynote lectures, JSME young researcher best presentation fellow award and fluid engineering conference best presentation award provided articles. Furthermore, the teams of first place and first runner-up of the dream of flow contest were reported about the work. A wide variety of articles is reported thanks to cooperation of many authors. Therefore, the articles are released in two parts. We hope that the articles are informative for engineers and researchers in our field and help to share the activities of the fluids engineering division in the future.

Finally, we would like to thank all the authors for their contributions.

Tokitada Hashimoto (Saga University)
Shoichi Matsuda (University of the Ryukyus)
H.J. Park (Hokkaido University)
