Yakiniku

Let's take a look!

What type of experiment is this?

Experimental procedure and explanation:

  • This experiment is titled Yakiniku (Japanese barbecue). Do the flames look like yakiniku?
  • Cut several strips of red paper tape, arrange them along a ruler, and secure them with cellophane tape. Place the ruler over the outlet of a circulator.
  • When the circulator blows air, the paper strips flutter upward and sway like flames.
  • If a balloon (45 cm in size) is placed above the airflow, it will float in the air. Changing the wind speed alters the height at which the balloon hovers.
  • This video was produced with the support of the JSPS Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (18K03956).
